Someone will catch the ball for the Denver Broncos this week against Jacksonville, and someone will handle a majority of the carries. It’s a little unclear who might be in those roles, however.

The Broncos ruled tight end Tony Scheffler and running back Selvin Young out of this week’s game. They each have groin injuries. Also, receiver Eddie Royal has a bone bruise on his ankle. The team hasn’t ruled him out, but there’s a chance he’ll miss a game.

Royal couldn’t say if he would play after practice Thursday, but said he’s improving.

“I’m feeling all right, feeling good,” Royal said. “Better than yesterday, so that’s a good thing. I feel like it’s getting better.”

The Broncos aren’t going to ditch their pass-heavy offense just because of the injuries.

Michael Pittman has been doing everything he can to convince the Denver Broncos that he deserves more carries. He should get his chance against Jacksonville on Sunday, when he figures to split snaps with Andre Hall. A grand jury has indicted a suspect in the murder of Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams.

The Denver Broncos will be missing two offensive starters for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
