A difficult season led to major change for the Browns.
Team owner Randy Lerner fired general manager Phil Savage on Saturday, and on Monday he informed coach Romeo Crennel he would not be back.
Both were victims of a four-year record of 24-40, which included a 5-19 mark in the AFC North and no wins over Pittsburgh.
Savage was replaced because of concerns over management and leadership, Lerner said. The owner did not say much about Crennel except to reaffirm his respect for the man and to say he would like Crennel to stay with the Browns as an assistant coach if he so chooses.
Crennel told the owner he would wait to see what happens.
Savage and Crennel were victims of high expectations that were not met.
