Hurt Antonio Pierce: I’m playing on Monday
Giants MLB Antonio Pierce misses practice again (AP)
Middle linebacker Antonio Pierce plans to play against the Cleveland Browns on Monday despite missing two straight practices with a thigh injury. “I will never miss a game unless I am on IR, so I’ll be there,” Pierce said Friday. Pierce was vague when asked how he hurt his thigh, but indicated it probably happened when he was running during the Giants’ 44-6 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Much has been made in recent days about the emergence of Eli Manning as a world-class quarterback, and how the Giants were right, after all is said and done, to mortgage the ranch and make the trade for him on draft-day 2004.
Now it’s Manning, very much his own man, who will take the 4-0 Giants into Cleveland for the Monday night game this week, and by all accounts, he has turned into the blue-chip performer several talent judges predicted he would be.
He was taken as the first overall selection by San Diego, despite guarantees from him and his father (Archie) and his agent (Tom Condon) that he would not even consider playing there. They never said why; perhaps the shoddiness of the team’s organization they believed at the time was a factor, perhaps being in…

A few Cleveland Browns decided to share their personal scouting report on Brandon Jacobs this week. And the less-than-flattering analysis is one the Giants and Jacobs will be reciting all the way up to their Monday night game in Cleveland.
Hixon has come a long way since joining Giants (AP)
Replacing Plaxico Burress in the New York Giants’ lineup this past weekend looked rather easy for Domenik Hixon. Getting to that point was just a matter of hard work and getting inspiration from former Buffalo Bills player Kevin Everett. “Kevin has been an inspiration to me,” Hixon said Thursday. “All the hard work he has been through.

Plaxico Burress is back and his teammates are happy to have him. And if you think his 2-week suspension and unrepentant press conference were a distraction to the Giants’ juggernaut, well, think again.

October 8th, 2008 | New York Giants Football | 0 comments | ContinuedGiants playing like Super Bowl champions (AP)
The Super Bowl champion New York Giants came into the season with a chip on their shoulders, and they still have it — even with some people now calling them the NFL’s best team after a 4-0 start. “We just laugh at it because those are the same people who, two months ago, 69 days ago, were saying the Giants weren’t going to be the best team in the NFC, wouldn’t even make the division, wouldn’t…

A year ago, the San Diego Chargers were 2-3, just as they are now. They went on to the AFC championship game against New England, which just happens to be the team they play Sunday night at home. “It gives you a confidence that you can do it, but you know that it’s obviously different,” LaDainian Tomlinson says of the challenges of overcoming a slow start.

Eli Manning will never again have to hear that the Giants should have gone for Ben Roethlisberger, who has his own Super Bowl ring, or Philip Rivers. If Manning stays healthy he will end up the best quarterback the Giants have ever had.
Super Mann of family is now Eli
In the battle for supremacy in the First Family of the NFL, Eli Manning has overtaken older brother Peyton as the best Manning in football. Four games into the season, Eli leads Peyton in every significant, quarterback-measuring category.

Strahan just can’t decide
We do know one thing about Michael Strahan, the man is proving to be a serial flip-flopper. Maybe Gap Man is trying to avoid sounding like a shill for his ex-mates.
