Bills Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

Trent Edwards reported to work Tuesday and Wednesday this week apparently intending to practice, and each time Bills coach Dick Jauron sent him home.

The coach’s orders are clear: Caution is still the best policy when dealing with a head injury.

With a bye week to play with, the Bills remain extra cautious with their young star quarterback, who suffered a concussion in last Sunday’s 41-17 loss at Arizona on the game’s third play and did not return.

Edwards was driven backward and his head hit the ground when he was hit square on the numbers by blitzing Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson.

His status for Buffalo’s next game, Oct. 19 against San Diego, remains officially undetermined.

“We follow a routine for any of our players who suffer a concussion and…

Bills DE Schobel nursing sore left foot (AP)

Buffalo defensive end Aaron Schobel missed practice Tuesday and will be one of numerous Bills regulars using the bye week to recuperate from nagging injuries. Schobel said he has a strained ligament in his left foot and doesn’t expect to practice much, if it all, during the break. The Bills (4-1) are off to their best start in 16 years and host San Diego (2-3) on Oct.

Bills WR Evans reaches 4-year contract extension (AP)

Having stuck it out through the tough times in Buffalo, receiver Lee Evans had no intention of leaving now that the Bills have begun to turn the corner with their fast start. Looks like Evans will be around for quite a while longer after Thursday, when he signed a four-year, $37.25 million contract extension that locks him up through 2012 and prevents the Bills from losing him to free agency this…

`Action Jackson’ provides Bills 1-2 running punch (AP)

In this Sept. 21, 2008 file photo, Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson runs the football during the first half of an NFL football game against the Oakland Raiders at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. Fred Jackson doesn't know how much credit he deserves now that he's helped give the Buffalo Bills running attack a one-two punch behind starter Marshawn Lynch.

If Marshawn Lynch goes by something he calls `Beast Mode’ to describe his ability to plow through defenders, perhaps it’s time backup Fred Jackson got a nickname of his own. “Ha, ha. I really haven’t come up with anything,” Jackson said as the Buffalo Bills prepare to play at Arizona on Sunday. “The only thing that I’ve seen consistently is `Action Jackson.”‘ Jackson then paused before adding,…

Cornerback Terrence McGee, who wore a brace on his left knee and walked with a noticeable limp, was one of three Buffalo Bills defensive starters to miss practice Wednesday as the team prepared to play at Arizona this weekend. Bills’ big finishes have them off to 4-0 start (AP)

Take it from experience, Lee Evans could’ve written the book on `New and Imaginative Ways of Losing’ after his previous four seasons in Buffalo. The receiver had just about seen it all, from close losses to blowouts to helplessly watching his team squander an eight-point lead in the final 20 seconds against Dallas a year ago.
